Top mortgage coach Joel Epstein to moderate at engage.talent Feb. 6

Bringing expertise on top producers to the event

Top mortgage originators aren’t born, they’re made, and in this very competitive talent market, these unicorns are more sought-after than ever. That’s why we’ve asked Joel Epstein, top mortgage coach and host of The bigJoel Show podcast, to moderate two of our blockbuster panels at engage.talent on Feb. 6.

Epstein will moderate the panel on Recruiting and Retaining Top Originators, featuring some of the most successful producers in the country: Shant Banosian, vice president of lending at Guaranteed Rate, Sean Johnson, producing branch manager at loanDepot, and Jennifer Micklos, loan officer at Movement Mortgage.

Later in the day, Epstein will also moderate a panel on What Lenders Need Recruiters to Understand, with Steve Barker, regional director at Movement, Brian Covey, vice president of loan production at loanDepot, and John Palmiotto, chief retail production officer at Guaranteed Rate.

Epstein’s expertise in coaching top producers was born out of his own experience as first a loan officer, and then a branch manager for SunTrust Mortgage by the age of 27. Over the next seven years Epstein led his team to great success, getting more than 5,000 buyers into homes and closing more than $1 billion in mortgage loans.

In the process, Epstein discovered his true passions: teaching and coaching others.

“I’m secretly a professor at heart. I’m super passionate about seeing the light turn on for other people, about establishing goals with them and helping them hit those goals,” Epstein said.

When he first became a production manager, Epstein focused on hiring and training new talent, mostly out of necessity. “When I became a manager, I couldn’t get anyone to work for me. I had blazed a path through the local LO community — I had taken so much business from them, none of the LOs  were interested in working with me,” Epstein said. “So I hired people who had never done this before, and taught them to do what I did to grow my business to 40 plus purchase loans per month.”

Within a short time, the LOs he trained were showing up on top performer lists, which generated a lot of interest in his systems and techniques. Today, Epstein works with some of the most successful loan originators in the industry, helping them to achieve even higher performance through his CRUSH coaching programs.

At engage.talent, Epstein will be leading two of the most high-profile panels of the day, featuring originators at the top of their game. In this white-hot talent market, both panels are don’t-miss opportunities to learn from the best. Reserve your seat here.

Lower mortgage rates attracting more homebuyers

An often misguided premise I see on social media is that lower mortgage rates are doing nothing for housing demand. That’s ok — very few people are looking at the data without an agenda. However, the point of this tracker is to show you evidence that lower rates have already changed housing data. So, let’s […]
