How our Tech Trendsetters are driving ROI and growth

Technology plays a larger role than ever in real estate and mortgage, and the HousingWire Tech Trendsetters recognizes leaders in technology across the housing industry. In this episode of HousingWire Daily, Editor in Chief Sarah Wheeler talks with HW+ Managing Editor Brena Nath about this year’s Tech Trendsetters and the tech themes that are new this year.

Brena Nath: There was a theme a lot in these Tech Trendsetter and it’s the people who brought a fully digital mortgage from end to end… what does it mean to be a fully digital mortgage? For some of our winners that goes all the way to the homeowners insurance at the very end of the transaction, or it goes to the closing table.

Sarah Wheeler: You bring up closing, and we had several of the tech trendsetters who work at companies that really focus on the closing or that that end of the business. For instance,  Andy Mahdavi at DOMA. He’s one of two rocket scientists that we recognized this year. He was an astrophysicist, studying dark matter. And now he’s the Chief Data Science Officer at DOMA and as we wrote, he’s applied his unique skill set and knowledge to the finance and title industries. I think it’s great just to see that kind of level of innovation coming to something like title — I don’t think we saw that a lot before…Tom Showalter is the other one, who’s the CEO of Candor.
