PBS NewsHour covers the Richmond eminent domain controversy

Richmond, Calif., shocked the industry with a plan to seize underwater mortgages using eminent domain, and now PBS NewsHour is covering the plan in full for viewers.

The television program followed the 7-hour city council meeting last week and has composed a full news report on the battle to get eminent domain passed. Viewers can watch the video here after it airs Thursday night.

Richmond Mayor and Green Party member Gayle McLaughlintold PBS NewsHour, "We have moved forward with this option to utilize eminent domain as a last resort because no solution to this housing crisis has been brought forward by either the banks or the federal government.”
