Milwaukee officials consider tax-bill installment plans to prevent foreclosures

Foreclosures stemming from a failure to pay local county taxes are frustrating for borrowers and for lenders. Officials in Milwaukee sensed that more could be done, so they are looking into installment payment plans.

The Common Council next Tuesday will consider a proposal in which some Milwaukee homeowners facing foreclosure because they couldn't pay city fees on their tax bill would have the option of paying them through an installment plan.
