Merri Jo Cowen leads Stellar MLS, one of the largest and most influential Multiple Listing Services in the U.S., with a clear focus on innovation, growth and operational integrity. Since stepping into the CEO role in 2008, she has overseen significant expansion in market reach and cross-regional data partnerships, helping Stellar MLS serve more than 85,000 real estate professionals and support over 170,000 property transactions annually.
Cowen has been instrumental in launching new technologies and partnerships that support real estate professionals across markets. Under her leadership, Stellar partnered with Immobel to launch MLS Match, a national referral platform, and rolled out tools such as Down Payment Resource, SkySlope Offers and a voice-activated search tool to improve access and equity in the home search process.
During a time of major policy changes stemming from the National Association of REALTORS® legal settlement, Cowen prioritized education and compliance. She and her team dedicated thousands of hours to training, hosting webinars and forums to help subscribers adapt to the new regulatory landscape.
Her influence extends beyond Stellar. Cowen has held leadership roles on national industry boards and committees, including the Council of MLS and RPR Advisory Council. She is also active in global real estate conversations through her work with FIABCI-USA.
Cowen’s focus on service extends into the community. In recent years, she has led charitable initiatives like Stellar Cares and disaster recovery partnerships, reinforcing Stellar’s broader role in supporting both its professionals and the communities they serve.
