Nick Friedman is a visionary leader in the real estate industry, driving innovation and expansion as the president of HomeLight Homes. He leads HomeLight’s flagship financial product, Buy Before You Sell, which has transformed the homebuying process by enabling homeowners to access up to 70% of their existing home’s equity to purchase their next home without delay. Since launching the product in December 2022, Friedman has scaled its adoption at an unprecedented rate, forging partnerships with over 80 enterprise lenders and unlocking more than $760 million in equity for borrowers nationwide. His strategic leadership has positioned Buy Before You Sell as a game-changer, now operating in 47 states and used by over 43,000 lenders and agents.
Prior to his role at HomeLight, Friedman co-founded Accept.inc, where he served as COO and CRO, leading the company through a period of extraordinary growth — expanding by 30x and securing over $100 million in funding before its acquisition by HomeLight in 2022. His ability to drive results and disrupt traditional real estate models has made him one of the industry’s most influential innovators.
Friedman is known for his high-energy leadership style, fostering a culture of curiosity, collaboration and action. He simplifies complex challenges, pushes through obstacles with optimism, and inspires his team to embrace bold ideas. Whether jumping in on sales calls, strategizing new initiatives, or celebrating wins, Friedman’s enthusiasm is infectious. His entrepreneurial mindset and relentless drive continue to propel HomeLight forward, solidifying its place at the forefront of the proptech space.
What is one habit that has helped you succeed?
For me, success comes down to iteration over perfection. I’ve always believed that moving fast, testing ideas and refining them in real time is way more effective than waiting for the “perfect” solution. Speed creates momentum, and momentum creates results. That mindset has fueled everything I’ve built — whether it was scaling HomeLight’s lender partnerships from zero to 15,000-plus loan officers in just two years or growing Accept.inc 30x before its acquisition.
I don’t believe in getting stuck in analysis paralysis. The best way to learn is by doing, adjusting and pushing forward. Progress is constant, adaptability is second nature, and innovation is always the goal.
