Shared Equity: A required intervention for home affordability

Over the past few years, an inventory shortage, coupled with high housing demand, has fueled rising home prices. 

For a short time, the silver lining was record-breaking low mortgage rates. That silver lining has tarnished, as moves from the Federal Reserve sent rates soaring into the 7s. While rates are starting to come back down, it’s highly unlikely that we’ll see a 4- handle anytime soon and even if we did, the difficulties of financing the purchase of sky-high-priced homes persist.

That’s a longwinded way to arrive at this assertion: America is facing a housing affordability crisis. And it needs a real solution now.
