Jobless Claims Continue to Climb
Apr 02, 2009No respite for the labor market, as first-time applications for state unemployment benefits rose 12,000 to a seasonally-adjusted 669,000 in the week ending March 28, the Labor Department said Thursday. The week’s reading is up 72 percent from the same period last year and marks the highest level of initial jobless claims since October of 1982.
