Feb 09, 2009Regulators shut down two banks in California and one in Atlanta on Friday, marking the seventh, eighth and ninth bank failures of the new year, according to the Federal Deposit Insurance Corp. The total number of banks that have collapsed during the recession which started in December of 2007, now rings in at 34.
