Overcoming “imposter syndrome” with Marcia Davies

Our newest guest on the Girlfunds podcast will be a familiar name to folks in the mortgage and real estate industry. We’re excited to welcome Marcia Davies, the chief operating officer for the Mortgage Bankers Association and a winner of the HousingWire Woman of Influence award to the podcast. Over the last couple of episodes, we’ve focused a lot more on leadership and what women can do to better support other women. 

Davies continues this conversation, sharing her own journey in dealing with “imposter syndrome.” From actionable tips for women just starting their career to how to negotiate a higher salary, we cover it all in today’s episode of Girlfunds.  

For some background on Davies, she previously worked at the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development as senior advisor to the assistant secretary for housing and federal housing commissioner, and before joining HUD, she spent 21 years at Freddie Mac. She is also the founder of mPower – MBA Promoting Opportunities for Women to Extend their Reach – MBA’s networking platform for women in the real estate finance industry.

The best advice I can give is, do not be afraid to take some risks. And I’m not saying you have to take big risks. But start getting comfortable with putting yourself out there and taking risks and getting comfortable with being uncomfortable.
