Appraisal Modernization: What Lenders Need to Know

In March, HousingWire wrote a story about how Fannie Mae updated its Selling Guide to include more options for property valuations, saying that they are “moving away from implying that an appraisal is a default requirement.” Those options include value acceptance (formerly appraisal waivers), value acceptance plus property data, and hybrid appraisals. Desktop Underwriter was updated to include those options during the weekend of April 15, 2023.

On May 17, HousingWire hosted a virtual event discussing GSE appraisal modernization efforts and what lenders need to know.
