Patrick Newton is the vice president of advocacy communications and outreach for the National Association of Realtors® and co-host of The Advocacy Scoop podcast along with NAR Chief Advocacy Officer Shannon McGahn.

An accomplished media and advocacy communications strategist for 23 years, Patrick joined NAR in 2019 to lead all aspects of advocacy communications, public and media relations, and strategy. In 2021, his job expanded to manage NAR’s signature advocacy events.
He also served as press secretary for the Committee for a Responsible Federal Budget for three years and spent nearly a decade on Capitol Hill, serving as communications director and legislative adviser for a senior member of Congress. In that role, he managed all aspects of the member’s communications and advised on key policy matters such as housing, small business, banking, foreign affairs, and financial services.
Before moving to Washington in 2007, Patrick worked as a lead news anchor and reporter in multiple media markets spanning seven states.
