The New Jersey mansion the late Whitney Houston formerly occupied with ex-husband Bobby Brown is up for sale. Perhaps the rock-bottom price and the recent headlines will help the sale along.
One listing agent, broker Robert Cross of Car Property, seems to be hoping for that kind of luck.
“With the recent passing of Whitney Houston in Beverly Hills… it is with a heavy heart that we remind you of this great mansion,” says the listing on the company’s website. “Now is the time for someone to step up and buy this great house.”
The listing also reminds interested buyers that the singing legend “Married, Lived and Partied” in the house, saying “From the storied soaring success of the young Whitney Houston, to her marriage ceremony with Bobby Brown, this house and four-car garage car property, hosted some of the music industries most infamous moments.”
The listing doesn’t ignore the low points of Houston’s time spent there, reminding potential buyers that the mansion was the scene of alleged drug use that “brought down this incredible music diva.” Whether or not it’s even a tasteful decision to list the property that way is subject to debate.
The five bedroom, five bath, 12,561-square-foot house that sits on 5 acres of land was originally set at $2.5 million, but the asking price is now $1.75 million after sitting on the market since 2009.
The listing is private and requires full disclosure of identity and $1.5 million in liquid assets or loan preapproval.
