The National Reverse Mortgage Lenders Association (NRMLA) is making the most pressing reverse mortgage insights and information a major theme of its upcoming national conference, bringing reverse mortgage professionals from across the country to discuss a series of contemporary issues facing the industry today.
NRMLA’s Annual Meeting, taking place November 18-20 in Nashville, Tenn., features a programming schedule consisting of discussions around security and compliance, marketing best practices and economic factors, as well as a keynote address from Federal Housing Administration (FHA) Commissioner and Acting Deputy Secretary of the Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) Brian D. Montgomery.
In terms of the primary objective that NRMLA hopes to accomplish with the programming and event schedule for the members that will be attending, the purpose of the schedule is to allow association members to get the latest information and tools to take their operations in the reverse mortgage industry even further, according to NRMLA EVP Steve Irwin.
“When we put these programs together, we distill a lot of feedback from our members and hope to deliver with content and programming that will enable all of our members to do their jobs better, and to elevate the game,” Irwin told RMD in an interview. “[We want members to] have the most up-to-date information and insights, which can help enable people to do their jobs better, or think differently about how they do their jobs. We want to help our attendees succeed, and to provide the preeminent forum for collaboration and networking and sharing experiences. This is what our annual meeting offer.”
Also of particular interest will be a panel discussing ways that reverse mortgage loan officers can form firmer connections with specific kinds of referral partners, as well as the implications that new rules regarding single-unit condominium approvals could have on the reverse mortgage industry going forward.
“I think our ‘approaching financial planners’ session is something that I am pretty dialed into,” he said. “That, and the practical experience that panelists will share regarding the new condo rule.”
Unique to this event will be a closing session designed to serve as a free and open forum for members to discuss ways in which the association can better support the people within the reverse mortgage industry.
“We want it to be a chance for people to give feedback about the event, about the association and about where NRMLA can offer support to our memberships,” Irwin said. “And so, if people want to be thinking about questions or comments ahead of time, then people are welcome to email those to me.”
The NRMLA Annual Meeting is expecting 500 registrants from 180 different companies, and will be taking place next week in Nashville, Tenn., and there is still time to register, according to Irwin. RMD will also be in attendance, so feel free to send us an email if you’d like to meet up!
