RealtyTrac fills new chief economist post

Real estate analytics firm RealtyTrac took a major leap in growing its research and analytics space with the hiring of Jake Adger to fill the role of chief economist.

Leading a newly created department, Adger will assist RealtyTrac by conducting original economic housing research and working on the development of products and services to broaden the firm’s database.

“We are building our analytics team and bringing innovation, transparency and excellence to the real estate industry, and we are delighted that Jake has joined the RealtyTrac team,” said RealtyTrac CEO Jamie Moyle.

In the housing space, chief economists play a significant role in assessing the current market and forecasting future trends. News publications and investors consume this type of analysis from chief housing economists religously to gauge the trajectory of U.S. housing.

Moyle’s job description for Adger seems in line with these expectations.

“He brings research and analytics experience that will help us to track important housing market trends, empowering real estate consumers and investors with the information they need to make good decisions,” Moyle said after announcing the hiring.

As chief economist, Adger will work directly with the company’s database and public relations team to establish new real estate reports and research for the public.

Adger also will provide other business units in the RealtyTrac organization with analysis and research that will assist their development of new products and services.

“This is a unique opportunity to use RealtyTrac’s comprehensive housing market data to create new ways to analyze the residential housing market,” Adger said.

He added, “RealtyTrac’s data covers MLS listings, foreclosure, and rental market data, as well as proximity to local amenities and hazards. It is an exciting time to be conducting original real estate research considering how important housing is to the overall U.S. economy.”

Previously, Adger held senior management positions in a diverse group of companies, including SuccessFactors, Deloitte Consulting and Ski West.

He brings 11 years of analytics and product management experience to RealtyTrac.

However, the point of this tracker is to show you evidence that lower rates have already changed housing data. So, let’s […]
