The legendary pink home of makeup maven Mary Kay Ash is up for sale in its posh Dallas neighborhood.
The home, listed at $3.3 million, is located in the sought-after neighborhood of Old Preston Hollow (home to quite a few notable Dallas figures including George W. Bush, T. Boone Pickens, Harold Simmons and Mark Cuban) and is listed with Allie Beth Allman agent Karen Luter.
According to Dallas real estate blogger Candy Evans, the home was formerly listed with Myla Patton of Patton International Real Estate for $5.7 million, then with Linda Jordan Hobbs at Ebby Halliday for $4,995,000. The now rock bottom $3.3 million price is sure to get the home off the market quickly.
In fact, Luter told the Dallas Business Journal the home would likely sell within 30 days – a figure that doesn’t surprise me. In addition to its desirable history as a celebrity home, it’s well below market value and has been renovated several times since it was built in 1984.
While the home is still pink, the current owner who lived in the home for 15 years redid the kitchen and installed a geothermal system that cut utility bills significantly.
Taking up most of its 1-acre space, the 12,115-square-foot home includes a wine cellar, hand painted murals, custom millwork, teakwood flooring… the list goes on. Mary Kay certainly knew how to decorate.
And while the home is gorgeous and sits in one of Dallas’ most desired neighborhoods, the cosmetics diva decided the home was too big for her and moved to her former home to live a cozier lifestyle in almost-as-desirable Windsor Park.
