Kiplinger: Top 10 States for Retirement

Affordable and economically healthy states span the nation, and offer a range of options for seniors to live out their golden years, new research shows.

Surpassing the Sunshine State is Delaware as Kiplinger’s No. 1 retiree destination spot.

Florida ranks as the number two destination spot for retirees, followed by West Virginia, Pennsylvania, South Dakota, Arizona, Hawaii, Iowa, Kansas, and Wyoming.

In Wyoming, also known at The Cowboy State, retirees have ample opportunities to “connect with nature,” Kiplinger says.

“Wyoming’s unique landscape includes Yellowstone National Park, the Grand Teton mountain range and Snake River,” Kiplinger says. “Plus, you can keep a nice slice of earth all to yourself: Wyoming has the smallest population of any state in the country, with just six residents per square mile.”
