Longtime NEXA Mortgage recruiter and lending team leader Jason duPont has been promoted to chief operating officer, CEO Mike Kortas announced on Thursday afternoon.
Kortas’s announcement underscores duPont’s nearly 30 years in the industry and his record as the firm’s leading recruiter. Five of those years have been at NEXA.
“We’re beyond thrilled to announce that Jason duPont — the nation’s #1 mortgage recruiter and our “Wild Card” leader — has officially been named Chief Operating Officer of NEXA Mortgage!” Kortas wrote.
“With 28 years of mortgage industry expertise and a revolutionary indefatigable mindset,” Jason has been transforming careers and shattering industry myths. Known as the ‘Kind Assassin” for his transparent, no-nonsense approach, he’s recruited and mentored loan officers nationwide while championing our groundbreaking 100% commission model.”
In an interview with HousingWire on Friday, duPont said that his new daily routine will involve helping the company scale up.
“I’ll be supporting Kortas with his vision of what he wants to do. It’s also aligning where all the internal support side can keep up with that, because growth is is obviously coming from the outside, and I have a lot of experience with that, but now it’s having all the foundation to keep up with it,” he said.
NEXA has big plans to grow and duPont will be instrumental in helping to alleviate the “growing pains” that come with scaling up, he said.
“When you’re trying to go from 3,000 to 4,000 to 5,000 loan officers, there’s going to be challenges, and I want everyone to realize that we’re going to fight through all those so we can keep going,” he added.
These growth plans align with last year’s announcement of the NEXA100 program, which, according to Kortas, will give loan officers access to 100% of commission splits “without any per-file fees or other hidden fees.”
Kortas told HousingWire during the NEXA100 announcement that the company plans to double in size from 2,500 to 5,000 loan officers by the end of 2025.
