llinois homeowners received more mortgage default notices in April than in any month since October, and more than 75% of those filings were in the six-county Chicago area. Some 9,049 property owners were notified last month that their mortgage payments were past due and foreclosure proceedings had been initiated, RealtyTrac reported in its monthly accounting of foreclosure activity. It was the highest number of monthly default notices in Illinois since October, when more than 12,600 such notices were filed.
