Former Freddie Mac CEO Donald Layton was recently appointed to the board of trustees of Enterprise Community Partners.
Layton retired in June after serving as the CEO of Freddie Mac for seven years.
Previously, Layton spent time at JPMorgan Chase, E*TRADE and eventually Freddie Mac.
In addition to Enterprise, he sits on the boards of the nonprofits International Executive Service Corps and Children’s Health Fund, as well as serving as chairman emeritus of New York City’s Partnership for the Homeless after having served as its board chairman for a decade.
“Don’s commitment to and deep understanding of affordability, equity and housing finance make him an incredibly valuable addition to Enterprise’s board of directors,” said Priscilla Almodovar, CEO of Enterprise Community Partners. “Enterprise will benefit greatly from his counsel and experience as we continue to work toward our mission to create opportunity for low- and moderate-income people through affordable housing in diverse, thriving communities.”
Layton also currently serves as a senior fellow focused on housing finance reform at Harvard’s Joint Center for Housing Studies, where he already spoken out about reforming the country’s housing finance system.
“When considering where to lend my expertise after retiring from Freddie Mac, Enterprise rose to the top as an organization that’s a leader when it comes to advancing the cause of affordable housing in America,” said Layton. “I look forward to working with Priscilla and her team to advance Enterprise’s mission.”
