Global financial firm Blackstone said it lost one of its “most beloved colleagues,” in Monday’s shooting at an office building in New York City. Blackstone announced the death in a memo to employees and later identified the victim as Wesley LePatner in a public statement.

The shooter, identified as 27-year-old Shane Tamura of Las Vegas, opened fire at the firm’s headquarters, located at 345 Park Avenue. The building also houses accounting firm KPMG and the National Football League, which was the gunman’s target.

Three others, including a New York Police Department officer, were also killed in the attack. Tamura later died from a self-inflicted gunshot wound.

LePatner joined Blackstone in 2014 and was the global head of Core+ Real Estate and CEO of the Blackstone Real Estate Income Trust, according to the company’s website.

“We are heartbroken to share that our colleague, Wesley LePatner, was among those who lost their lives in the tragic incident at 345 Park Avenue. Words cannot express the devastation we feel. Wesley was a beloved member of the Blackstone family and will be sorely missed,” Blackstone wrote in a statement obtained by Fox News Digital.

“She was brilliant, passionate, warm, generous, and deeply respected within our firm and beyond. She embodied the best of Blackstone. Our prayers are with her husband, children and family. We are also saddened by the loss of the other innocent victims as well, including brave security personnel and NYPD,” the statement continued.

LePatner is survived by her husband, Evan, and their two children. She was active in the Park East Synagogue in Manhattan, where she and her husband received a philanthropic award in 2019. She also served on the executive committee of the Heschel School and was elected a trustee of the Metropolitan Museum of Art in February.
