AAG appoints Slifer as new chief administrative officer

New executive comes from previously serving in mortgage roles at USAA, Sutherland Global Services and PHH

Industry-leading reverse mortgage lender American Advisors Group (AAG) announced the hiring of Scott Slifer to serve as the company’s new chief administrative officer, a move that will place him in charge of the lender’s national field sales, wholesale and business development divisions.

Prior to joining AAG, Slifer served at the United Services Automobile Association (USAA) for three years, first as a production and distribution executive and later as its head of real estate lending. He also served as head of the global mortgage vertical at Sutherland Global Services, was channel president of private label solutions at PHH Mortgage Corporation, now a division of Ocwen Financial Services and parent entity to Liberty Reverse Mortgage.

“Scott is a financial services industry veteran, bringing over 30 years of experience and deep domain and business acumen in the strategic industry verticals of banking, lending, insurance and customer experience,” said Ed Robinson, president and chief operating officer at AAG. “We’re confident leaders like Scott will help take AAG to the next level.”

For his part, Slifer anticipates working with the products offered by AAG, which offer a different kind of potential solution when compared to traditional financial services.

“Throughout my career, I’ve been passionate about leading teams who develop new and different ways to satisfy customers,” said Slifer. “I can’t think of a more deserving demographic to help than seniors, and I’m looking forward to helping to facilitate a better way to retire.”

Recently, AAG has been adding to its repertoire of partnerships to support aging in place priorities for its clients, including new accords in the home modification space, seeing an opportunity for reverse mortgages to provide assistance to borrowers who wish to customize their homes in order to accommodate the needs of staying put as they age.

Late last year the company announced a partnership with VGM Live at Home, a nationwide, collaborative membership community with services for independently owned and certified accessible home modification providers and contractors. Now, AAG has added several new home modification partnerships including with a manufacturer of bathing products called BestBath, which fashions products designed for people of all abilities.

In a unique marketing turn, the company also recently expanded its reach to the popular social media platform TikTok by sponsoring the prize in a “vocabulary challenge” organized by a senior influencer.

According to endorsement data compiled by Reverse Market Insight (RMI), AAG is the number one reverse mortgage lender in the nation with 17,335 loans over the 12-month period ending in February, 2022.
