U.S. Bank names new president for Northern California market

Mahesh Kharkar will direct commercial banking

U.S. Bank recently announced it appointed Mahesh Kharkar as the president of its Northern California market.

In this new position, Kharkar will be responsible for leading in company-wide efforts and activities, as well as directing commercial banking in North California.

U.S. Bank Executive Vice President and Head of Commercial Banking Elliot Jaffe said the company is pleased to welcome Kharkar to the team, noting his professional background makes him an asset for the company.

"Mahesh's leadership and depth of experience will provide even greater support to U.S. Bank clients and the community in Northern California," Jaffe said.

The veteran banker has more than 30 years of experience in corporate and commercial banking, international trade and working with middle market clients.

Prior to joining U.S. Bank, Kharkar served as the senior vice president and market manager for the healthcare and institutions group at Bank of America Merrill Lynch.

Kharkar also served as the senior vice president and regional manager of healthcare financial services at a California based Wells Fargo and has led a national sales team for Wells Fargo HSBC Trade Bank.

Earlier this year, U.S. Bank announced plans to reward nearly 60,000 employees with  $1,000 bonuses, raise its minimum wage for all hourly employees to $15 per hour and enhance its employees’ health care options, effective for the 2019 enrollment period.
