Fed Appoints new CFPB Inspector General

The Federal Reserve Board announced that Mark Bialek has been appointed as the inspector general for the Fed and the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau.

Bialek assumes the vacancy created when Elizabeth Coleman retired on May 2nd.  Bialek served previously as the inspector general for the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA).  He has worked in the inspector general community for over 30 years.

Under the Dodd-Frank Act designated the Office of the Inspector General as oversight authority for the Bureau.  However, the CFPB operates autonomously from the Federal Reserve.

Bialek earned his Juris Doctor from Antioch School of law in Washington, D.C. and a B.S. from Suffolk University in Boston.
