Buying or selling a home is undoubtedly a daunting process for many consumers. There’s a mountain of confusing acronyms, a seemingly never-ending pile of paperwork, and many intricacies that are not easily understood.
So, it’s no surprise that various entities have homebuyer education tools available for consumers, including the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau, Fannie Mae, the Mortgage Bankers Association, and others.
But a new homebuyer education tool is coming, from another source – a mortgage insurer.
Radian Guaranty, the private mortgage insurance subsidiary of Radian Group, is relaunching its consumer-focused website to help guide buyers and sellers through the complex homebuying process.
Radian Guaranty’s website, achievethedream.com, features tools and “in-depth knowledge” for consumers. For example, check out their advice on how to "decode the jargon" associated with getting a mortgage.
According to Radian, the website features newly enhanced interactive tools, including:
- Interactive guides that compute the projected opportunity cost of renting versus buying, how long it is expected to take to save for a down payment, expected monthly payments, as well as tools to project home equity and appreciation
- Informative editorial that takes consumers from the beginning of their home buying process, including how to find a trustworthy real estate agent, all the way to what to expect at closing
- A plain English explanation of what to expect during the financing process, including explanations of the various loan options, a mortgage application document checklist, and a guide to understanding credit
“We developed the original achievethedream.com because we heard from loan officers across the country that home buyers are entering the real estate market without the necessary knowledge to capitalize on their buying opportunities,” said Brien McMahon, chief franchise officer, Radian.
“In order to meet increasing online demand and actively support educated decisions about home buying we redeveloped achievethedream.com,” McMahon continued. “With its amplified content, we’re confident our new website serves as a unique and helpful information hub to aid consumers in making smarter home buying decisions, and can provide valuable information for real estate agents as well.”
