Ten-X promotes Rick Sharga to chief marketing officer

Respected industry veteran to lead marketing efforts for rebranded Auction.com

Ten-X, the company formerly known as Auction.com, announced Thursday that it is promoting Rick Sharga from executive vice president to chief marketing officer.

In this role, Sharga will utilize his “unique blend” of real estate, technology and consumer marketing experience to lead corporate marketing, branding and corporate communications for Ten-X, the company said in a press release.

Sharga is a well-respected voice in the housing industry, and frequently appears on HousingWire, both as a source of perspective and as a contributor.

In his new role, Sharga will oversee corporate marketing and communications for the rebranded Auction.com.

Earlier this month, Auction.com announced that it was rebranding as Ten-X, which the company said represents its transition into an “online marketplace where buyers, sellers, and the agents and brokers who represent them can easily and efficiently buy and sell high quality residential and commercial real estate.”

Ten-X CEO Tim Morse said the transition from Auction.com to Tex-X marks the introduction of the “future of real estate.”

And according to Morse, Sharga will play a valuable role in the future of Ten-X.

“Ten-X is in an ideal position to positively impact the way the world thinks about transacting real estate, and Rick Sharga’s insight and expertise will be crucial as we prepare to launch game-changing technology that attracts and empowers a much broader audience,” Morse said. “The company has already benefited immensely from Rick’s leadership and vision over the past two and a half years, and we look forward to fully leveraging his capabilities in the role of chief marketing officer.”

Sharga joined Auction.com in 2013, after serving as executive vice president for Carrington Holding Company.

Prior to that, Sharga was senior vice president of marketing at RealtyTrac for nearly a decade. While at RealtyTrac, Sharga was also responsible for business development, data operations, and the development of a national real estate agent network.

Earlier in his career, Sharga created and executed marketing and sales programs for prominent technology companies such as Toshiba, Hitachi, JD Edwards, Honeywell and Fujitsu; start-ups like Tickets.com; and consumer brands like Pizza Hut and Acura.

Sharga said that he is excited by the opportunity that exists at Ten-X.

“When I joined Auction.com in 2013, I was looking forward to being part of a company that would fundamentally change the way residential and commercial real estate was bought and sold by leveraging technology in ways that had never been done before,” Sharga said. “I’m honored to take on the challenge of building Ten-X into a powerful national brand known for delivering easier, more transparent, more efficient real estate transactions for buyers, sellers and real estate professionals.”

Lower mortgage rates attracting more homebuyers

An often misguided premise I see on social media is that lower mortgage rates are doing nothing for housing demand. That’s ok — very few people are looking at the data without an agenda. However, the point of this tracker is to show you evidence that lower rates have already changed housing data. So, let’s […]
