United Wholesale Mortgage announced the promotion of Melinda Wilner to the newly created role of chief operating officer.
Prior to her promotion, Wilner served as executive vice president of underwriting for the wholesale lender.
As COO, Wilner will lead all company operations and oversee more than 500 team members in the company’s underwriting, closing and technology teams.
Wilner has also been tasked with streamlining operations to make lending easier for mortgage brokers and borrowers in all 50 states.
“Melinda has set the company standard for efficiency and client service, and has been a major factor in UWM’s rapid growth into the top-producing lender in the country,” said Mat Ishbia, President and CEO of UWM.
“She is incredibly talented and has a knack for simplifying the complexities of the mortgage industry for our clients,” Ishbia added. “We’re strong believers in promoting from within, and Melinda has distinguished herself as the obvious choice for what will be such an important role for advancing the UWM business model moving forward.”
Wilner said that he is excited by the new opportunity.
“I feel very fortunate to be a part of a company like UWM that feels so much like a family,” Wilner said. “We have so many passionate, hard-working people here, and I’m incredibly excited to take on this new role and take UWM to the next level.”
