One of world soccer’s most famous stars is coming to America – for at least some of the time anyway.
Portugal’s Cristiana Ronaldo, who plays professionally at Real Madrid and is widely regarded as one of the top five soccer players in the world, reportedly purchased a pricey loft in New York City at the Trump Tower.
According to a report from the always-reliable New York Post, Ronaldo ponied up $18.5 million for a 2,509 square foot loft at the Trump Tower on Fifth Avenue.
Ronaldo’s arrival in the U.S. on a more-permanent basis has been the subject of rampant rumors in the soccer world for the last few years, with an article on SI.com fueling the fire recently.
The article suggested that Ronaldo may be coming to the U.S. in a few years to play in Major League Soccer.
According to the report, from SI’s Grant Wahl, Ronaldo’s preferred destinations are Miami, Los Angeles and New York.
According to the New York Post report, Ronaldo bought the NYC residence from Italian real-estate mogul Alessandro Proto, who is a partner of Donald Trump.
