MGIC: Mortgage delinquencies slowly trend lower

July writes $4.5 billion in primary new insurance

Primary new mortgage insurance for July remained level at $4.5 billion, according to MGIC Investment’s (MTG) July operational summery of its insurance subsidiaries for its primary mortgage insurance.

Last month, primary mortgage insurance was also at $4.5, up compared to May when it was $3.7 billion in primary new insurance.

July started with 66,357 loans in its primary delinquent inventory and ended slightly lower with 66,121 delinquencies on file.

Despite the meager decline, the numbers are still down from the start of June and May, which was 68,224 and 69,630, respectively.

MGIC recorded 6,607 new notices, which was offset by 5,379 cures, 1,393 paid-off mortgages and 71 recessions and denials.
