Just in case there was any doubt about whether Zillow Group (Z) Chief Executive Officer Spencer Rascoff believes in his product, he showed Friday just how much of a Zillow-head he really is – by listing a home for sale…on Zillow.
The home isn’t Rascoff’s primary residence. According to a series of tweets from Rascoff, the home is an investment property he’s been renting out for the last several years.
Rascoff said the “great” home is in the Madison Park area of Seattle and hopes that the listing will attract a lot of interest due to the dearth of available homes in the area.
According to the listing (which can be found here, on Zillow of course), the home is 3,470 square feet, and has four bedroom and three and a half bathrooms.
Here’s the description of the home from the Zillow listing:
Spacious 3,470 sq. ft. three story contemporary home just steps to the Village in Madison Park. Reverse floorplan provides the top floor gourmet kitchen and great room with views of Lake Washington. Master bedroom with massive walk-in closet and five piece bath. Private gated entry offers a sanctuary, with low maintenance landscaping and secure, fully fenced courtyard.
The home’s price tag? $1,295,000.
That price, by the way, is under the “Zestimate” for the listing, which is $1,322,559.
Zestimates are the property value estimation tool built into every listing on Zillow, and over the years, Realtors, real estate agents, brokers, homebuyers and sellers have questioned their accuracy.
In Rascoff’s series of tweets about the home, he notes that a Zillow Premier Agent, Gordon Stephenson, is listing the home.
Zillow Premier Agents, of course, are agents who partake in advertising on Zillow, and the program is a major revenue source for Zillow.
So it’s not really a big surprise that Rascoff would use a Premier Agent to list his home, perhaps in an effort to show the value of advertising with Zillow.
Also unsurprisingly, Rascoff’s listing takes full advantage of Zillow’s capabilities by also making a 3D tour of the home available on the site.
The 3D tour, which, admittedly, is pretty cool, takes you through the entire house and allows you to take a 360-degree view of the house from any point inside. It’s about as immersive a home-viewing experience a person can have without actually walking in there themselves.
But fear not. According to Rascoff’s listing, there’s an open house on the property being held tomorrow between 1 p.m. and 3 p.m.
So if you’re in Seattle on Saturday, do be sure to stop by and check it out.
If the 3D tour and the pictures are to be believed, the house itself is worth every penny of the $1,295,000 that Rascoff is asking for.
At least, according to the Zestimate anyway.
