Move selects first chief economist

Jonathan Smoke joins team

Move hired Jonathan Smoke as Realtor.com's first chief economist, where he will lead a team of real estate analyst reporting on housing trends.

Smoke brings 20 years of real estate experience to the role and will report to Luke Glass, executive vice president of industry platforms.

"Jonathan brings to our team analytical horsepower, a depth of experience in all aspects of the housing marketplace, and a keen ability to communicate trends to experts and novices, alike," Glass said.

Most recently, Smoke served in key executive roles at Hanley Wood, a information, media, event and strategic marketing services company serving the residential, commercial design and construction industries.

This follows a recent announcement from Redfin, which also announced the company’s first chief economist, Nela Richardson
