British house prices rose by a seasonally-adjusted 0.5% in May amid thin trading volume and a tight supply of properties for sale, mortgage lender Nationwide said Thursday. The monthly rise pushed the average house price up to £169,162 pounds (US$249,023) from £167,802 in April.
