Many Texas tax filers skip mortgage interest deduction, report says

Few Texas tax filers are using the standardized mortgage interest deduction, a new report shows. A May 25 report from the non-profit Tax Foundation shows that only 20.4% of tax returns by Texas residents sent to the Internal Revenue Service for the 2008 tax year included the deduction.
